Jon and I were married 15 years ago! I am dedicating this post to Jon.
Jon is a wonderful husband. He is the most kind and sensitive male on the earth! He is most kind and most sensitive to me. Thank you Jon for 15 wonderful years! Thank you Jon for 5 children! I love each of them and so glad that they get to have you as a father. I love that you keep the children in your heart all day. You work so hard for our family and always put forth your best efforts. You are true to yourself the Lord and the priesthood that you hold. I love that about you!
I love you Jon!
Jon and I were married on a Thursday, October 14, 1993 in the Salt Lake Temple! It was a beautiful fall day with an autumn rain and sunshine too. It was the 100 year anniversary of the Salt Lake Temple and we received a commemorative wedding certificate to celebrate our day. As I was cleaning our basement a month ago I came across my Bride's Magazine. Every girl loves to look at the Bride's Magazine, but I didn't want to buy one too soon to 'jinx' my relationship. When it came to the right 'state of the relationship' I knew I could buy one and start putting textures and fabrics to my dreams. The copy of my Bride's Magazine is dated December 1992/January 1993. But with a 2 month engagement the date of the magazine doesn't match the date of the engagement.
My family loved Jon until they had to wait and wait and wait for the proposal to come. Anyone who knows Jon, knows that one of his greatest attributes is thoroughness. I didn't realize that with patience, comes thoroughness and sometimes you just have to 'wait' for Jon. February came and left, so did March and April. But at the end of May a proposal came, however it the offer was politely rescinded 2 days later. In June we became "just friends", but by July I was the 'girl' Jon brought to his 10 year high school reunion. The tried and true proposal came in August and the wedding in October.
We were married on my mom's 40th birthday. Now 15 years later, I am 40 and she is 55! I can't even imagine one of my children being married (jonnie is now 13!) Now I feel a little older and a lot wiser and have a very different perspective on life. And a much more thorough love for Jon.
Anyway, back to the Bride's Magazine. I didn't use it as a bible for my wedding, however, I must have really liked some of the wedding dress styles, because as I flipped through the pages, I was amazed at how closely I matched one of the dresses. Take a look!
It is amazing how styles have changed. I am including another fascinating photo from the magazine and a very special picture from my own wedding. Thank you Jon for an eternal marriage! I love you!
